Snapshots of Paris
The Olympic fever has finally subsided, leaving Paris with a renewed sense of calm and charm. The city, which hummed with electric energy during the games, has returned to its characteristically relaxed August pace. The crowds have thinned, allowing visitors to rediscover the city's hidden corners without the usual hustle and bustle.

PARIS HIDDEN GEMS
Discovering Bercy Village: Paris's Historic Hideaway with Modern Charm
Bercy Village
If you're seeking a slice of Paris that blends history with modern charm, look no further than Bercy Village in the 12th arrondissement. Once the epicenter of the world’s largest wine market, this hidden gem has been reborn as a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly area. Cobblestone streets and 19th-century wine warehouses now house chic boutiques and cozy cafes.
The historic wine warehouses, with their millstone walls and iron beams, have been lovingly restored and transformed into unique spaces that invite exploration. The main artery, Cour Saint-Emilion, once buzzed with the activity of wine merchants and now hums with the energy of shoppers and diners enjoying the village’s relaxed atmosphere.

Shopping here is a delight, offering a mix of international brands and local boutiques that cater to all tastes. Whether hunting for the latest fashion trends, picking up some French skincare essentials, or browsing through quirky home decor, you’ll find plenty to indulge in. And if you’re a foodie, Bercy Village won’t disappoint. From Italian trattorias to Middle Eastern eateries and everything in between, the dining options are as diverse as they are delicious.
But Bercy Village isn’t just about shopping and eating. It’s also a cultural hub with a rich calendar of events and activities. The UGC Ciné Cité multiplex is perfect for catching the latest films, while Science Expériences offers a fun and interactive way for kids to dive into the world of science. Throughout the year, Bercy Village comes alive with outdoor concerts, seasonal food festivals, and art installations that transform the area into a visual feast.

And when you’re ready to stretch your legs and breathe in some fresh air, Bercy Park is just around the corner. This expansive green space is one of Paris’s largest parks, offering beautifully landscaped gardens, serene ponds, and even a vineyard that harks back to the area’s wine-making roots. Whether you’re up for a leisurely stroll, a picnic, or quiet time in nature, Bercy Park is the perfect complement to a day spent exploring Bercy Village.
Beyond the park, you’ll find the Cinémathèque Française, a haven for film lovers, and the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy (now AccorHotels Arena), which hosts everything from concerts to sporting events. The Seine River is also nearby, offering picturesque riverside walks or a leisurely cruise to cap off your day.
Bercy Park
In essence, Bercy Village is a microcosm of Paris itself—rich in history, brimming with culture, and full of life. Whether you’re a local or a traveler, it’s a must-visit destination that offers a unique, authentic Parisian experience away from the typical tourist hotspots. So next time you’re in Paris, make sure to carve out some time to explore this charming corner of the 12th arrondissement—you won’t regret it.
